Area residents donate vehicles

Donna Alexander Published:

Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County Inc. matches volunteer mentors with Portage County children from single parent families.

One of the fund-raisers that provides funding for the agency to recruit more adult volunteers is the Cars For Kids program in which unwanted, running and non-running cars, trucks, and vans are donated to Big Brothers & Sisters.

Donors receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the vehicle. Vehicles are picked up at no charge. Donors need to provide the keys and title.

To donate a vehicle or for more information, call Ron Kilchenman, associate director, at (330) 296-6655.

Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County wants to recognize the following area residents who donated vehicles in January and February: Caroline Holiday, Lee Horning and Richard Slaughter of Atwater; Tina Desantis of Aurora; Roger Kuhn of Brimfield; Edward Adolphson of Deerfield; Robert Hornyak of Hiram; Jonathan Anderson, Gaurab Bansal, Carole Beaty, Bob Gragson, Ron Holliday, John Perdue, Don Persons, Tim Pontius, Richard Sabol, Kathy Spano, and Brian Talbott of Kent; David Campbell and Judy Marik of Mantua; John Knotts of Mogadore; Paul Bica, Robert Derr, Steven Fisher, Renee Friedman, Betty Morris, Mark Porter, and Mark Whyde of Ravenna; Jeffrey Eldridge of Rootstown; William Fischer of Streetsboro; and Jennifer Folger Brown and Bonnie White of Windham.
