Women of Note setto visit Hiram College

Irving Berlin A Daughter Remembers will be performed at 4 p.m. March 30 in the Hiram College Kennedy Center ballroom.

Damaris Peters Pike will perform the program, which will detail the career of the God Bless America composer and include the singing of several of his popular songs.

Playing the part of Berlins oldest daughter, Mary Ellen, Pike will tell the story of the self-taught immigrant who grew up to be one of Americas prominent songwriters. Pike will sing Berlin songs such as Blue Skies, Always and White Christmas.

Since 1988, Pike has performed her original, one-person musical dramas, Women of Note, in 10 states and France. This summer, she will perform in Clevelands Cain Park and Cape Cod, Mass.

The professor of music emerita at Hiram, Pike founded the Opera Workshop, directed the college choir and madrigals and taught a variety of courses.

The program is free and open to the public.
