Portage County 4-H is hosting a community open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 20 to welcome new Extension Educator and Director Jeni Buckingham.

4-H members, families, volunteers and supporters may stop by the OSU Extension-Portage County office located at 6970 S.R. 88 in Ravenna to meet Buckingham. Light refreshments will be served.

An avid 4-H member growing up, Buckingham went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from The Ohio State University.

After starting a family, she continued her studies and completed a master's in education.

Buckingham has developed curriculum for and taught various audiences, from elementary school groups through college students as an adjunct faculty member.

Her training and experience working in teams, group diversity, and resolution skills in a university setting will benefit the growth of 4-H and the Extension service in Portage County.

She lives with her husband, five children, and several animals in Wadsworth.
