Book donation honors Dr. Glenda Kunar

Mary Louise Ruehr Published:

It has been a tradition of the Thursday Literary Club to purchase a book in honor of a deceased member.

Since the club was founded in 1924, the custom of the club has been to purchase a book for the local library that reflects the member's interests, job or hobby.

The late Dr. Glenda Kunar was a professor at Youngstown State University, so the club chose books about schools, literature and children.

The chosen books are "Almost Home: Helping Kids Move from Homeless to Hope" by Kevin Ryan; "Charles Dickens and the Great Theater of the World"; and "Saving the Schools," a true story of a principal, a teacher, a coach, and children in a year in the crosshairs of education reform.

All of the chosen books are now available at Reed Memorial Library in Ravenna.
