Cindy Meers to retire after 36 years

Published:

Soon a new voice will answer the telephones and greet customers at the Ravenna Parks and Recreation Department office. Administrative Secretary Cindy Meers will mark Friday as her last day behind the desk with more than 36 years with the city of Ravenna, most with the Parks and Recreation Department.

Meers started her career with the city in 1976. As the administrative secretary, Meers has witnessed many changes during her time with the Parks and Recreation Department, including the most recent introduction of a new computer software system that will enable people to register for programs online. She has touched the lives of many people and, in some instances, generations.

Her immediate plans are to enjoy time with her family, husband Bob and sons Ryan and Sean, and visit her daughter, Brittany, and son-in-law, Stephen, in Florida.

A reception in her honor acknowledging her many years with the city will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the APCO Lodge, 5089 Lakewood Road, Ravenna.

The reception is open to the public. For reservations, leave a voice message or text to Gary Livengood at 330-524-1139 by Friday.
