The Portage Trail Walkers annual meeting and potluck luncheon Christmas party will be held Dec. 15 at Quail Hollow State Park. The visitor center opens at 8:30 a.m., and the group walk begins at 9 a.m. The lunch and meeting are set to start at 10:30 a.m. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share.
Those wishing to participate can take S.R. 43 south from Kent. Go nine miles and turn left (east and go one mile on S.R. 224. Turn right (south) on Congress Lake Road and go three miles. That road turns left for one-half mile on Pontius, then right for one mile. The Quail Hollow sign is on the left. Follow the signs, to the parking lot, bearing right, to the lot overlooking the visitor center.
