Fan of Olympic Games will speak in Stow

Published:

Harry Nelson has attended every Summer Olympic Games but one since 1932. He will speak about his Olympic experiences at 7 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, 3512 Darrow Road in Stow.

Nelson's family attended the 1932 Los Angeles games when he was 10 years old, and except for the Berlin Olympics in 1936, he has been at every one since. In 1952, he sold his car to pay the fare to the Helsinki games. He and his wife, Dee, even postponed their honeymoon for a year so it would coincide with a trip to Melbourne for the 1956 Olympics.

Nelson's talk is free, but attendees are asked to register with the library online at www.smfpl.org or by calling 330-688-3295, ext. 4. The program is cosponsored by the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library and the Friends of the Library. For more information, call 330-688-3295 and contact Ann Malthaner at ext. 110 or Mary McDonald at ext. 228.
