Linda Breedlove, vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer at Robinson Memorial Hospital, has received the Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives 2012 Nursing Leadership Award from the Ohio Hospital Association.
Breedlove was presented with the award at the OONE Fall Conference.
This prestigious award was open to any Nurse Leader who is an OONE member and who meets the criteria.
The specific criteria to be eligible included:
Being an OONE member;
Innovative leadership -- workplace, professional or civic;
Practice -- promotes professional development, research, presentations, publications, advocacy for patient care or advancement of nursing practice;
Strategic planning -- participation, innovation and ability to execute/implement the plan;
Mentoring -- role modeling, commitment to education for nurses, or development of future nurse leaders; and
OONE State and Chapter Activity
The nominations for Breedlove recognized her as "an advocate for staff and patients. She always seeks to make sure that nurses have adequate supplies, equipment, and technology readily available to provide quality nursing care."
One staff nurse recently mentioned and was quoted in the nomination, "I realize exactly how proud I am to work at our hospital, how advanced we are compared to other larger hospitals, and that nursing leadership is taken seriously. This enables us nurses to feel empowered to make changes -- we do have a voice."
Another nomination noted, "Linda is known for asking staff nurses, 'Tell me what is it you love about working at Robinson Memorial Hospital, and if you could change one thing today, what would that be?'"
