Volunteer Appreciation event honors 'Bigs'

Published:

Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County recently held its annual Volunteer Appreciation and Holiday Party at Kent Lanes. The event was attended by Bigs and Littles as well as members of the Advisory Board.

Volunteers and children enjoyed bowling, a pasta buffet and door prize drawings.

All volunteers were recognized for their service. Big Sister Debbie Ross was the longest-serving volunteer in attendance. Debbie has been a Big Sister since January 2004. She and Little Sister Katelyn have been matched since November 2008.

Special guest Santa Claus visited with candy for everyone.

Big Brothers & Sisters matches adult volunteers with children in need of a mentor. With the help of professional staff, volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life form caring relationships with children facing adversity and provide guidance and support that leads to long-term success.

Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County has more than 50 children waiting to be matched with a Big. Call 330-296-6655 for more information on volunteering or donating.
