More than 180 people enjoyed wine, beer, food and music at the recent Paws to Taste event, held at the Twin Lakes Fairways LLC.
Jack Hurd played the piano by the fire, holiday decorations adorned the walls, and auction items lined the tables throughout the room.
"What a great event!" said Chalan Lowry, Portage Animal Protective League executive director. "The turnout was amazing. To see so many people come out to support the APL and our hard work was heartwarming and overwhelming."
Those attending bid on a variety of silent auction items, from baskets and art to racecar rides and wine. Raffles for 50/50 and door prizes were popular.
A few APL animals, Cupid, Jack-O, Malcolm and Wicket attended, looking for a new start. They seemed to enjoy getting away for the evening and meeting new people. For Malcolm, it was the best: He met his new mom, Julie Rand, that night.
This wine and beer benefit raised more than $12,000 for the Portage APL and the hundreds of animals it cares for each year.
The APL has many items on its wish list, which can be found on their Facebook page.
