Virginia Goodell of Shalersville turns 90

A celebration of Virginia Goodell's 90th birthday brought more than 150 well-wishers on Dec. 30 at Portage Faith United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Shalersville.

Special guests included her three sons and their wives: Keith and Anne of Colchester, Conn.; Jay and Barbara of Shalersville; and Bruce and Sherry, also of Shalersville.

Grandchildren included Steven Goodell of Schenectady, N.Y., Nathan and Rebecca Goodell with Ryan and Evan of Shalersville, and Saif and Rachel Goodell Rahman of Westerville.

Granddaughter Lisa and Fran de la Mota of Madrid, Spain, with Virginia and Daniel, were unable to be present.

Included in the family guests were Ruth Black Haney of Ravenna, who is a sister of the guest of honor, and brother Gordon and Marguerite Black of Wellington.

Hors d'oeuvres were prepared and served by Hope Circle from the church and the birthday cake was made and decorated by Nancy Caldwell and served by Bonnie Marek.
