Falcon Academy, 1473 Saxe Road, Brimfield, will present its first show of the new year, "Gotta Be Jazz," at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday.
The third-grade classes will start the production with an introductory song followed by the newly formed recorder ensemble performing on both soprano and alto recorders.
Those attending will then experience the history and development of jazz from New Orleans up the Mississippi to St. Louis, Chicago, and around the world. Participants can find out why original jazzers had names such as Dizzy, Satchmo, Lady Day, Jello Roll and Yardbird.
Admission is $5 for adults and free for students.
