Putting the busy and hectic holidays behind us … now is the time to plan to have some fun and relaxation with the Suffield League. Mark your calendars for March 9 and join the Suffield League at its annual Laugh at the Lake.
The event is held at Paradise Lake Country Club located at 1900 Randolph Road in Mogadore. The evening includes a delicious buffet followed by a hilarious comedy team, with Jeff Blanchard performing as headliner. The group has been featured at various comedy clubs. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Suffield Carryout, Paradise Lake Country Club, Knight Graphics or League members: Tom Calcei at 330-628-2437, Terry Ginn at 330-472-6483 or Kyle Kriener at 330-628-1580. Look forward to enjoying the fun evening with family and friends.
Registrations for baseball and softball are being held at the Suffield Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 and from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 3. All first-year players must bring along a copy of their birth certificate. Athletes who stop by to sign up can also try on uniforms for correct sizes.
Starting the new year, students needing help with their school work can contact the Suffield United Church of Christ for the Homework Assistance Program. Volunteers will be available from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesdays to tutor any subject, any level. For questions or information, contact the church at 330-628-4038.
The Suffield Township Historical Society will kick off its Speaker Series on Feb. 18. We will put Suffield's long standing rivalry behind us for an evening to invite Dave Adolph, originally from Mogadore, and now living in Columbus, to share his experiences during his illustrious coaching career with various well-known football teams. Dave played for Mogadore, many times against Suffield; he will remind us of who won those games. This should be a memory-filled evening. There will be a short business meeting at 6:15 p.m. with the Dave Adolph program at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.
