Jim Moore gets surprise birthday party

By Mary Louise Ruehr Published:

Jim Moore of Kent was born Jan. 13, 1933. This year, he was honored with a surprise 80th birthday party, attended by his entire immediate family.

The surprise began when a limousine arrived at the Moore home to pick up Jim, his wife, Ellen, and his sister, Mary Lou White. They were taken to the Pufferbelly restaurant in Kent, where they were greeted with a chorus of "Happy Birthday."

After dinner and presents, the family was entertained by Mary Lou's humorous recounting of Jim's birth and customs of that time.

After the party, the trio were driven home in the limousine and had birthday cake and ice cream.

The party planners were Jim's son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Lynda Moore, and his daughters, Melanie Mikusa (by Skype), Mary Beth Moore and Tami Hoffman. Also attending the party were grandchildren Madison Moore and Hillary (Moore) Taylor and husband Joe, and great-grandchildren Payton and Charlotte Taylor.
