The Portage County Teen Board selected Jessica Reker and Brad Losey as the Teens of the Month for October.
Jessica is the daughter of Mike and Angela Reker of Streetsboro. She is a senior at Streetsboro High School, where she is president of Beta Club, has been section leader and squad leader for the band, and is a Rocket Tutor.
She has been involved with the soccer team, Science Club, Powder Puff Football, National Honor Society, Student Council, and the school marching, jazz, pep and concert bands.
She has earned varsity letters in soccer and band, a Portage Trail Conference Scholar Athlete Award, and Outstanding Achievement in social studies and biology.
Her hobbies include reading, playing soccer, making items out of duct tape and collecting PEZ dispensers. Her future plans include attending Xavier University in Cincinnati and earning a degree in environmental science. After college, she hopes to get a job working in the conservation department at a zoo or at the Environmental Protection Agency.
Brad is the son of Robert and Cheryl Losey of Brimfield. He attends Field High School, where he is a senior.
He was president of the junior class and a member of Student Council. He has been active in Concert Band, soccer, tennis and National Honor Society. He was a delegate to Boys State and is an assistant senior patrol leader in Boy Scouts.
He earned First Team All-League in soccer and tennis, was League Most Valuable Player in tennis, was on the principal's list for his 4.0 average, and earned four letters in soccer and three letters in tennis.
Brad enjoys playing all kinds of sports, both competitively and casually. He got involved in politics recently, as he followed the presidential race.
He also likes to play video games. He plans to attend college, majoring in engineering.
