The Garrettsville Branch of the Portage County District Library offers a program for prospective chicken owners. "Getting Started with Backyard Chickens" will be presented at 11 a.m. on March 16.
Participants will learn the basics of backyard flock-keeping, from setting up the brooder box to maintaining a mature egg-laying flock. A take-home packet will be provided. This program is geared toward the egg-laying flock, and meat production will not be covered.
Ages 16 and up may attend. Registration is limited. To register, call the library at 330-527-4378.
