The sixth annual Men Who Cook fundraiser was recently held at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall in Ravenna. The event benefits the needy served by Catholic Charities of Portage and Stark counties.
More than 250 attendees entered on the red carpet to spend the evening sampling the culinary creations showcased by community members.
Tom Stephan served as master of ceremonies.
The judges were Nancy Jo Clifford, Melissa Graeser and Sally Messerly. The Judges' Choice Award was given to Louis Drouhard and Mike Reder, who prepared fiesta lime chicken.
Oscar Valverde and Mariana Romero were presented the Benjamin Award for their patacones ticos.
The People's Choice Award was given to Tom Griffiths and Ken Focazio for preparing New Orleans bread pudding with bourbon sauce.
The Good Samaritan Award, given to an individual who has exhibited extraordinary dedication and unconditional service to Catholic Charities, was presented to Karen and Sam Cipriano.
The committee consisted of Chairman Christine Callahan, David Bissler, Karen Cipriano, Maria Rhoads, Janice Savako, Dorothy Stoessner and David Vincent.
Special thanks were expressed to Diana Stromsky, interim executive director, and Christine McHugh, office manager.
