The Vacca Office of Student Services at Kent State University supported Portage Learning Center's Holiday Wish Tree School Drive.
This year, in lieu of the traditional gift exchange, the VOSS office decided to make the gift that of school supplies to the Head Start Program, with which their students are heavily involved.
Throughout the school year, the VOSS office and PLC work together with KSU education majors to help with their placements for field experience and student teaching experience.
Portage Learning Center's Head Start Program offers comprehensive education, health, nutrition and social services to Portage County's children and their families.
This year, more than 350 children and their families have been served.
The supplies donated by the VOSS office were valued at close to $270 and will be put to use in the classrooms as learning tools for children ages 3 to 5.
PLC expressed gratitude to Portage County residents for their continued support, as well as the support of the area businesses participating in this donation drive.
Donations can be dropped off at the Portage Learning Center's main office, 145 N. Chestnut St., Lower Level, Ravenna, in the Key Bank Building.
Call Outreach Coordinator Valerie Fiala at 330-297-7795 for more information or to make a monetary donation.
