Windham Historical Society members Helena Belden and Lynnea St. John recently went to Katherine Thomas Elementary School in Windham to teach local Windham history to the third-grade classes of Denise Johnston and Sarah Hill. The students had many questions and were interested in learning about their town. The teachers will follow up with more projects to further their learning of the heritage that Windham residents have experienced. Windham celebrated its bicentennial with thousands in attendance in 2011. Belden, shown speaking to the students, is a retired third-grade teacher within the Windham School System. The historical society began teaching local history in the school four years ago.
