Spring is here at last, but apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo, and the last I heard there was a contract out on Buckeye Chuck as he gave everyone false hope that spring was around the corner last month.
Well, I do not know about you, but I have turned many corners since Feb. 2, 2013, and have yet to find spring. I almost found it nearly two weeks ago, when the mercury climbed to the 60s, but it slipped away quickly just as I caught sight of it. So here's hoping that the evasive spring makes an appearance soon and stays around until summer. Happy spring, everyone!
The Nelson-Garrettsville Senior Social Club meets every Thursday at the Nelson Community House on the Circle from 9 a.m. until noon. The first Thursday of each month is bingo day. This week they featured yearbooks and next week expect to have eggs and sausage. All seniors are welcome to join in the fun.
The Nelson-Garrettsville Community Cupboard is looking for a new home in the area if anyone knows of a building they could use. Contact the cupboard via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The NGCC has helped and continues to help those in the James A. Garfield School system, and currently they are helping 160 families. Their hours of operation are Mondays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The cupboard will be closed any day school is not in session, either for inclement weather or holiday. They will be open during the summer and holiday breaks that are not the actual holiday.
