Clay Magilavy of Kent has earned the status of Eagle Scout.

An Eagle Court of Honor was held for the award presentation last fall, around the time of his 18th birthday.

The senior at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent is a member of Troop No. 257 of Christ Episcopal Church in Kent. His Scoutmasters are Dan McClory and Marco Condos.

Clay started Scouting as a Tiger with Pack No. 3256.

For his Eagle project, Clay created a movable uniform storage unit for St. Patrick's Home & School Association. He was helped by Scoutmaster Condos; his grandfather, Ron Heineking; and fellow Scouts of Troop No. 257.

Clay is a musician who plays baritone, Sousaphone, guitar, bass and banjo. He is currently a member of Choralworks and of a barbershop quartet called Tetrad. He has acted in dramatic productions at Roosevelt and has written several one-act plays.

He also is a member of the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow.

For the rest of the school year and summer, Clay will be a staff member of the National Youth Leadership Training for his fourth year. He will travel to St. Louis with People International Inc. for the annual conference.

After high school, he plans to study music technology at Kent State University-Stark campus.

He is the son of Marc and Karen Magilavy of Kent.
