8-ft. statue of Bigfoot graces stage for Mantua Rotary Club fundraiser

The Mantua Rotary Club held a soup supper fundraiser recently at Hilltop Church in Mantua to support its ongoing Student Exchange Program.

This year's student is Roberta Rosa of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The proceeds of the fundraiser will enable her to take part in exchange student activities planned by the Rotary District, including trips to Washington, D.C., and New York City.

The Mantua Rotary Club members said they are proud to help her to experience a sampling of life inside the United States and to see other parts of the country.

After the supper, Marc DeWerth, president of the Ohio Bigfoot Organization, spoke on "Searching for Bigfoot in Ohio." DeWerth belongs to several Bigfoot organizations and has been pursuing his hobby for more than 20 years.

Mantua resident Ken Zander displayed the 8-foot model of Bigfoot that he constructed. Visitors were able to take pictures with "Bigfoot" after the talk.
