Teen poetry craft contest set at Ravenna library

Published:

To celebrate National Poetry Month in April, Reed Memorial Library in Ravenna will hold a poetry craft contest for teens.

Blackout poetry is created by taking a page from a newspaper or an old book, selecting words from the existing text to create a poem and blacking out the rest of the text with pens or markers.

Materials for creating blackout poetry will be available at the second floor reference desk.

Participants can also bring in blackout poetry created at home to be included in the library's poetry display.

Winners will be selected and may choose to have their work published on the library website and Facebook page at the end of April.

Examples are available on the Reed Memorial Library Facebook page.
