Family, relatives and friends gathered on Feb. 9 at Emma Marie's Italiano Restaurant in Ravenna to honor Gloria Ferry of Kent on her 80th birthday.

Gloria turned 80 on Feb. 17, but to ensure a total surprise, her children decided to celebrate early.

Gloria was born and raised in Kent, the only daughter of Edward and Mary Bianchi.

Gloria is very active in her high school class reunions and activities, and a volunteer at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. Married Dec. 30, 1950, to Robert A. Ferry (deceased 1984), Gloria "raised her children with love and kindness, and is cherished in many hearts."

Gloria's large family also finished the weekend with a Sunday dinner, and Monday pizza party, before her children returned home. Gloria's children are Robert Jr. of Youngstown, Linda (and Jim) McColloch of Bonita Springs, Fla., Diana Sferra of Kent, Carole (and Don) Rogers of Waleska, Ga., Stephen (and Lisa) of Brookfield Wis., and Vince (and Tina) of Kent.

Gloria has six grandsons: Stephen Jr., Vinny, Dominic, Anthony, Antonio and Nicholas, and a granddaughter, Nicole Smith, the mother of Gloria's great-granddaughter, Jordan McKenzie.
