Hurds to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary

Bob and Dorothy Hurd of Rootstown are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Friends may mail cards congratulating them to 3700 Sanford Road, Rootstown, OH 44272.

The couple were married on June 14, 1963, at the Roots­town Methodist Church. Their children and their spouses are Marjorie and Nick Billock of Roots­town and Martha and John Gilberts and Steven and Carrie Hurd, all of Colorado Springs, Colo. Their grandchildren are Katherine and Madeline Billock and Corah and Jaden Hurd.

Bob graduated from Southeast High School and Dorothy from Rootstown High School in 1961. Both are alumni of Kent State University. Bob worked at City Bank in Kent from 1962 to 1965 and served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. He taught at Rootstown Middle School from 1971 to 1993. He retired from teaching in 1993 and since then has done home remodeling and truck deliveries and has operated Christmas Day Tree Farm.

Dorothy taught full time at Rootstown Elementary School from 1964 to 1971, then substitute-taught until 1985. She continues to be involved with Chrisitian Women's Club and is a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.

The Hurds attend Friendship Bible Church in Randolph.
