Ear-ful of music at Sweet Corn Festival

The entertainment schedule is set for the Kent Lions sixth annual Sweet Corn Festival at Beckwith Orchard, 1617 Lake Rockwell Road, Kent.

The festival runs from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4.

Leading off the festival at noon on Saturday is "A Tribute to Willie and Friends," playing numbers from Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and many others. Celtic Clan of Kent will follow playing traditional Irish folk music.

On Sunday, the festival opens with Rio Neon playing folkjazz from noon to 2 p.m. followed by Kerry Kean and the Bee String Band at 2:30 p.m. playing traditional and contemporary folk music.

Activities include carnival games, and craft vendors, free trolley rides for all and contests and face painting for children.

A Model A car show is set for Saturday. Boiled sweet corn, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, and Beckwith's peaches and peach pie available for purchase. 

Proceeds from the event will fund Lions sight preservation projects.

Beckwith Orchard is located on the Portage County Hike & Bike Trail between Kent and Ravenna.
