The Home Instead Senior Care office, located at 705 Oakwood St., Suite 107 in Ravenna, will hold an open house for its CAREGiver Training and Community Resource Center from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 17.
Home Instead Senior Care provides individualized services to help seniors remain at home independently.
With more than 200 employees, Home Instead Senior Care is the largest provider of in-home senior care in Portage County.
The open house is open to the public and offers an opportunity for people to tour the center while enjoying light refreshments.
At 6 p.m., Home Instead will present an Alzheimer's Family Education Workshop to help area families manage the challenges of Alzheimer's and other dementias.
This free training for families caring for these older adults is called "The Alzheimer's or Other Dementias CARE: Changing Aging through Research and Education."
The program for family caregivers will cover subjects such as: Alzheimer's Disease or Other Dementias Overview; Capturing Life's Journey; Techniques to Manage Behaviors; and Activities to Encourage Engagement.
Also available is a free guide for those who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. Called "Helping Families Cope," the guide includes advice to help families keep their loved ones engaged and manage behaviors.
