Spring Break Day Camp is for boys and girls ages 5 to 11 and will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. March 24 to 28 in Tower Lodge at John Tontimonia City Park in Ravenna.
Each child is responsible for bringing a packed lunch and two beverages daily. A snack is provided. The camp will provide a safe and fun place for children to be when schools are out for spring break.
The week's activities aboard the "USS Fun Ship" start the week off with a Bon Voyage Party. Attendees will "visit ports" throughout the week for "on-shore excursions" and fun-filled activities.
Field trips to Fun-n-Stuff, and two trips to be announced will be held.
Additional "ports of call" include "Hawaii," where participants will translate their names into Hawaiian, make erupting volcanoes, make a lei and attend a luau. As they leave Hawaii, they will travel a short distant to "Mexico," where they will attend a fiesta, learn the Mexican Hat Dance and design a piñata.
While at "sea" (City Park), they will experience all the fun activities the "USS Fun Ship" has to offer -- pinball, crafts, sports, movies, and playground time.
Space is limited. The cost is $80 for city taxpayers or $85 for non-city taxpayers. After March 16, if openings still remain there will be a $10 late fee.
Pre-registration is required. Registration takes place now through March 14 in person at the Recreation office online at www.ci.ravenna.oh.us or the first 21 to register. For more information, call 330-296-2864.
