Members of the Old Northwest-Aaron Olmstead Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution purchased 40 wreaths for the Wreaths Across America campaign. The wreaths were laid on the graves of veterans at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

Members Muriel Breyley, Debbie Schinker and her daughters Megan and Emily, Robin Ellsworth-Leichliter, Ruth Wagner and Rebecca Ellsworth helped to lay the wreaths in December.

Denise Seachrist, chair of "Project Patriot," reported seven boxes were sent during the holidays to women serving overseas.

Members donated the items and the postage.

The boxes contained pajamas and T-shirts, 21 magazines, 29 pairs of socks, more than 100 personal care items and candy.

The chapter participated in the "Holiday Mailbox for Heroes" program by sending 70 cards to service men and women.

The group donated gift cards to residents of Freedom House and Ms. Liberty House in Portage County.

Member Mary Wiese died in January. At the family's request, members and others donated money for the continued upkeep of the DAR mound at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
