In recognition of National Occupational Therapy Month, therapists at Happy Day School in Franklin Township (Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities) hosted an ice cream social for students and staff.
Everyone enjoyed using their fine motor skills to make ice cream delights. "Occupational Therapy: Achieving Success in Everyday Life" is the theme for OT Month.
The OT department focuses on working with students on fine motor skills such as writing, object manipulation, dressing and other activities of daily living, meal assistance, upper body splinting and orthotics, along with play skills and other activities.
They consult with parents, school and community staff to coordinate each student's programs. Occupational therapy staff at Happy Day School are all employed by Portage Physical Therapists, Inc. of Ravenna.
