Three student finalists from Waterloo High School competed at the Randolph Lions annual speech competition on May 13. The theme of the speeches this year was "how student citizens can improve their community."
Waterloo speech teacher Mandy Huth coordinated the competition at the school where the three finalists were chosen. All three speakers won cash awards for presenting at Tuesday's Lions Club dinner meeting with their families in attendance.
Student Lauren Wise won a close vote over the two runners-up, Stephanie Ganoe and Dylan Bencze. Lauren will have the honor of presenting her speech at the Randolph Memorial Day parade ceremony on Monday.
