Portage County Association of Realtors and Affiliates recently hosted the 37th annual Vintage Venture Senior Citizens dinner and dance. Held at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, this year's theme was "A Night on the Nile."
The Roosevelt prom committee prepared the elaborate Egyptian theme for the high school prom and left it for Vintage Venture the following day. More than 190 guests and 50-plus volunteers attended this year.
Upon arriving, the senior citizens were provided photos and corsages. A catered dinner from Guido's of Ravenna was served. Music for dancing was compliments of the Garretttones Swing Band. The band members donate their time to this event each year.
They also play a military medley tribute to the men and women who have served. Veterans stand when his/her military theme is played.
Dozens of door prizes were donated by local businesses and won by the guests. This year, every guest won a door prize.
Volunteers included Kent Boy Scout Troop No. 253, Kent Paramedics, Guido's servers and Portage County Realtors, Affiliates and their friends and families. Danielle Sommers was mistress of ceremonies.
Albert "Buzz" Wagner of Aurora, age 95, was crowned King. Esther Fox, age 99, of Randolph was the Queen. Bouquets for the king and queen were donated by the Window Box of Brimfield.
