Homeland Security, drugs are topics for Dustman's Deputies

Published: June 17, 2017 4:00 AM

Members of Dustman's Deputies met in April with guest speaker Cody Bucholder, Ohio Homeland Security emergency management, planning, training and exercise officer of Ravenna.

He talked about working with local law enforcement, preparing for and responding to disasters, opening communication channels with the public and past hazardous situations in the local area.

The group met again in May with guest speaker Portage County Common Pleas Court Judge Becky Doherty.

She spoke about her drug court, the court drug probation department, requirements for people who go through this system, a new facility that is needed for this problem, and the goal of making addicted people productive citizens again.

The next meeting will be held at 9 a.m. June 20 at Little City Grill, 802 N. Mantua St., Kent. The meeting is open to anyone with Portage County law enforcement or government experience.
