The Old Northwest-Aaron Olmstead Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met recently.

During the meeting, the DAR recognized Deborah Walker and Kathy Frazier, authors of "And Now You Know Too! The Story of How the Black Squirrel Came to Kent," for their contributions to children's literature and promotion of local history.

The recognition luncheon also celebrated the installation of new officers: Muriel Breyley, regent; Amy Jaronowski, registrar; Rebecca Ellsworth, treasurer; Ruth Wagner, chaplain; and Denise Seachrist, historian/librarian.

The luncheon was held at Corral of Kent and was catered by Christina Shahriari, owner of Home 4 Lunch.

DAR is a non-profit, non-political women's service organization that promotes patriotism, historical preservation and education. For more information or to join, contact onaodar@gmail.com.
