The Kent American Legion Post No. 496 recently was given three citations for permitting and/or allowing gambling at the Mogadore Road premises. The citations, issued April 15 by the Ohio Investigative Unit of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, specifically address the permission of tip tickets, a raffle and tip boards within the club, located at 1945 Mogadore Road. On Saturday, the investigative unit cited 20-year-old Jill M. Yoder of Millersburg at the BP gas station, located at 1434 E. Main Street in Kent, for misrepresentation and being a person under 21 who knowingly purchased beer. Both parties charged will have a hearing before any decision on fines or license suspensions is made, according to Julie Ehrhart, public information officer for the Ohio Investigative Unit. The Ohio Investigative Unit is responsible for enforcing liquor, tobacco and gambling laws throughout the state and in nearly 24,000 liquor permit establishments. The unit also investigates food stamp fraud.
