The Village of Mantua remains under a boil alert after a broken water pipe left residents without water service through much of Saturday.

A corroded pipe joint in the village water plant’s main holding tank flooded the plant and water had to be pumped out entirely before the problem could be found and fixed.

Water was pumped back in late Saturday afternoon, but a 72-hour boil alert went into effect.

“It’s definitely still in effect,” said Mantua administrative services officer Kate Rogers.

Rogers said a water sample was sent to a laboratory for testing on Sunday.

“Once it comes back clear, we’ll lift that alert. We’re hoping to do that by this evening,” she said. Residents will be notified through the village’s AMG Alerts system.
