A Ravenna man has been indicted on charges he allegedly took voyeuristic videos of undressed, underage children numerous times in 2016 in Stow.
Joseph M. Chiappone, 32, of 628 S. Prospect St., was indicted Friday by a Portage County grand jury on a total of 18 charges —12 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, including six second-degree felonies and six fifth-degree felonies, and six counts of voyeurism, all fifth-degree felonies.
Chiappone was arrested Friday and is being held in the Portage County jail pending arraignment this week in Common Pleas Court. The case is assigned to Judge Becky Doherty, and no initial court dates were available in online records.
Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 30, 2016, Chiappone allegedly videotaped or photographed numerous minors without their knowledge for his own sexual gratification, according to the indictment. The charges came out of a Stow Police Department case that is being prosecuted in Portage County.
Messages seeking comment were left for Stow police and Portage County Prosecutor Victor Vigluicci.
Chiappone has no prior criminal record in Portage County or Summit County, according to court records.
