Ravenna burglar gets 43 days in jail, probation

A Ravenna woman has been sentenced to serve 43 days in the Portage County jail and five years probation for breaking into a house in Ravenna in June and assaulting one of the residents.

Tiffany M. Cottrell, 29, of 682 W. Lake St., was sentenced by Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman to 90 days in the Portage County jail, with credit for 47 days already served. While on probation, Cottrell must submit to random drug tests, get her GED within six months and find a full-time job, according to Pittman's sentencing order.

Pittman also fined Cottrell $300 and ordered her to have no contact, directly or indirectly, with the victim.

Cottrell pleaded guilty in August to burglary, a third-degree felony, for breaking into a residence on North Diamond Street in Ravenna on June 23 and assaulting a female resident.
