IRS may still have your refund

Ohioans looking for some extra Christmas shopping money might want to check with the IRS, Sen. Sherrod Brown has suggested.

"Middle class families can't afford to leave one cent on the table. But that's what happened because some people don't know the IRS owes them money," Brown said.

Brown said Ohioans who were due tax refunds can check their status by going to the "where's my refund" page at irs.gov or calling 1-800-829-1040.

"We know the economy is getting better," Brown said. "There's new manufacturing, high-tech investments in our state. But it's not good enough yet."

He also suggested Ohioans can speed up next year's refunds by sign up for direct deposit of refunds.

He added that filing taxes electronically can reduce errors.
