Bullet found at Windham school causes lockdown

Record-Courier Staff Report Published:

Windham Junior High and Senior High School were locked down Wednesday after a call at 12:16 p.m. that a bullet was found inside the school, according to a press release from the Windham Police Department.

Upon arrival, Windham Police officers learned that students reported finding the bullet across the street from the school, and someone took the bullet inside the school and later placed it in a trash can, according to the release.

"An alert student reported this activity to school personnel who immediately notified the police, and an investigation was implemented, along with the school officials who had immediately followed their emergency plan, which calls for a lock down," the release stated.

After conducting several interviews and searches, it was determined by police and school administrators that it was safe to resume classes at the entire school building.

The investigation is continuing, and the bullet is being held as evidence, pending forensic exams for a fingerprint.

  • Well, anonymous, Crazy has been with us since the primal ooze or the Garden, take your pick. Crazy isn't going anywhere anytime soon. And isn't this a conundrum, people now know all they need do is drop a bullet across the street from a school to make everyone fill their pants, and the empowerment that brings (Hey Mikey, watch them crap themselves), verses not reacting when Mikey's buddy is actually planning to shoot up the school. We live in interesting times.

  • When is this craziness going to stop ?
