Streetsboro Police Officer Stan Siedlecki and Dispatcher Linda Leanza recently were chosen to be honored with the department's Exceptional Service Award.
Members of the police department are nominated by their peers and the winners are chosen by Police Chief Roy Mosley III.
"Officer Siedlecki has been with our department since 2010 but has made great strides in that time," said Mosley. "He brings a positive attitude and a teamwork approach to his duties, never hesitating to assist his fellow officers."
Siedlecki has volunteered for CIT for Educators training each year and the Citizen Police Academy Program.
"Dispatcher Leanza has been a valuable asset to our police department and community since 1992," said Mosley. "Her positive attitude is contagious and she brings it into work with her each and every day. She never hesitates to help."
Leanza made the Senior SAFE Program a success, he said.
Leanza said her job demands a combination of "compassion" and quick thinking.
"To perform the job well, a dispatcher has to have compassion for the public, good listening skills and quick decision making," she said.
Siedlecki said he finds cases in which he and his colleagues help individuals with mental health problems "memorable."
"We have been able to calm them down without any injuries and get them the help they need. I'm honored that my coworkers thought to nominate me for this award. I'm a part of an amazing team of people and look forward to coming into work for my shift every day."
