Three people were hospitalized Jan. 1 following a two-car traffic crash in the 8400 block of Route 43 in Streetsboro, police said.
According to Streetsboro Police Lt. Darin Powers, officers and firefighters responded at 8:22 p.m. Jan. 1 after a silver 1991 Infiniti G20 and a silver 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder collided in the roadway.
Powers said the Mitsubishi, driven by Jeremy Braynard, 17, of Streetsboro was northbound on Route 43 when he "lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the center line," colliding with the southbound Infiniti, which was driven by driven by Nathaliah Carver, 21, of Kent.
A passenger in the Mitsubishi, Kevin Jones, 18, of Streetsboro, was transported to Akron City Hospital by LifeFlight helicopter. His condition remains unavailable.
Braynard and Carver, whose injuries were not life-threatening, both were taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna by Streetsboro paramedics, Powers said. Carver is a senior fashion merchandising major at Kent State University, according to university records.
The crash remains under investigation, and excessive speed may be a factor. No charges have been filed, Powers said.
The crash closed Route 43 for more than two hours while the scene was cleared and officers investigated. The Kent Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
