Absentee voting for Waterloo School District's levy began Wednesday at the Portage County Board of Elections.
The district, which covers Atwater and Randolph townships, will hold a special election Feb. 5 for a 5.9-mill, five-year levy to avoid an operating deficit. The emergency operating levy would raise $939,557 per year.
It's the only special election to be held in February.
The last day to register to vote for this election is Jan. 7.
Voters in the district may apply for absentee ballots by contacting the elections office at 330-297-3511 and asking for a ballot application or by downloading an absentee ballot application from the elections office web site at www.co.portage.oh.us/election/absentee_voting.htm.
In-office voting also began Wednesday at the board office in the Portage County Administration Building, 449 S. Meridian St., Ravenna.
