An inmate at the Portage County jail attempted suicide at about 3:16 p.m. Saturday, according to Portage County Sheriff David W. Doak.
Jonathan J. Kornet, 24, was transported and admitted to Akron City Hospital for treatment. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening, Doak said.
Kornet was waiting to be transferred to the Lorain Correctional Institution, according to the sheriff. Kornet was arrested on Sept. 25 on a charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. He pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification on Dec. 1, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
