Kent man is Ohio Highway Trooper of the Year

C. Otis Smith, a Kent native and graduate of Field High School, recently was named the 2012 Trooper of the Year at the Ohio Highway Patrol's Canton post.

Smith, 31, of Jackson Township, was chosen for the award by his fellow troopers and supervisors.

He joined the highway patrol in 2002 and previously served at the Hiram and Ravenna posts.

He attended the University of Akron and also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 2001-06.
