Two people were charged with illegally shooting off a pellet gun Wednesday after Kent police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Stinaff Street Extension, between Hudson Road and Fairchild Avenue on the city's west side.
Kent police Capt. Paul Canfield said officers responded to the area at about 1:30 p.m. after a witness reported shots being fired.
The weapon turned out to be a pellet gun, he said.
Shooting a pellet gun within city limits is illegal, and the two people were charged with misdemeanors. Their names were not immediately available.
Police closed the street for several minutes for a search.
