An Akron woman who solicited sexual partners online for money in Brimfield last year recently was sentenced to a week in the Portage County jail and ordered to get treatment for a drug problem.

Danielle A. Bernard, 22, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count each of possession of drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor, and soliciting prostitution, a third-degree misdemeanor. Portage County Municipal Judge Barbara Oswick sentenced her to 90 days in jail and fined her $750, then suspended 83 days of the jail term and $550 of the fine on the conditions Bernard complete a one-year term on probation, do 24 hours of community service, complete a Job & Family Services intensive outpatient program, undergo random drug tests, seek work and commit no crimes for two years.

Bernard and Raymond C. Leasure, 27, of 3610 Duffield Road, were arrested Aug. 27, 2012, and charged with numerous misdemeanors for allegedly soliciting people for sex online using a post on Craigslist.com. Brimfield police investigated, searched Leasure's residence and seized a computer and 22 hypodermic syringes allegedly used to inject drugs.

Bernard was charged with possessing the syringes, along with misdemeanor prostitution, soliciting and possession of criminal tools charges. Leasure was charged with possessing the syringes, procuring, a first-degree misdemeanor, for soliciting online customers to have sex with Bernard for money, as well as theft for allegedly stealing a backpack containing tools from a car parked on Fairwood Road in the Beechcrest allotment, near his Duffield Road home.

Leasure later was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of receiving stolen property, one felony and one misdemeanor, and misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments for possessing the syringes, the stolen tools and a stolen credit card. A trial on those charges is scheduled in Portage County Common Pleas Judge John Enlow's courtroom on April 2, according to court records.
