Senior Companion training classes set

Published:

The Senior Companion Program, a program of Family & Community Services, Inc., is accepting applications from seniors, age 55 or older, with loving hearts to provide companionship and support to older adults. Volunteers spend an average of 15 to 20 hours a week in the homes of older adults who could use a little friendship and a watchful eye, so they can remain independent and enjoy a brighter future.

The Senior Companions can earn a small nontaxable, nonreportable stipend and mileage reimbursement to offset the costs of volunteering. In addition, the services are free to the clients.

Classes are now filling for February. For more information on the Senior Companion Program contact Michael Semon at 330-677-3939, ext. 304, or by email at msemon@fcsohio.org or stop by the office at 135 E. Erie St., Suite 301, Kent.
