Kent area residents had a mild and sunny day to enjoy two events downtown on Saturday. Standing Rock Cultural Arts held the ninth annual "Make Mine with Ice" ice carving exhibition in the Hometown Bank Plaza at the corner of Water and Main streets. The event featured demonstrations by ice carving clubs from Kent State University and the University of Akron. At left, Cinneaia Johnson shows off her carving skills. Also on Saturday, Main Street Kent held its Chocolate Walk fundraiser. The event allowed purchasers of a $15 ticket to stop in and collect chocolate at more than 20 downtown businesses. Only 200 tickets were available and the event sold out. At right, Gini Shallenberger collects a piece of chocolate from Madison Hall at Off the Wagon in Acorn Alley.
