Kent woman jailed after testing positive for drugs following court appearance

A Kent woman in Portage County Common Pleas Court for an arraignment Monday was ordered sent back to the Portage County jail by Judge Laurie Pittman after testing positive for drugs following her arraignment on an indictment charging her with making methamphetamine in December 2012.

Krimson A. Cadle, 27, of 614 Hudson Road, forfeited her bond and is being held in the Portage County jail pending a new bond hearing at 9 a.m. Friday in Pittman's courtroom.

Cadle was arraigned at 11 a.m. Monday in Pittman's courtroom, and given a personal recognizance bond on the condition she submit to random drug tests. Pittman ordered Cadle to go to the Portage County Adult Probation Department across the street from the Portage County Courthouse for a drug test.

Just after 1 p.m., Pittman had Cadle back in her courtroom, where she told the defendant she had tested positive for three different drugs.

"You had drugs in your system," Pittman told Cadle. "Three different ones."

Cadle attempted to protest and asked the judge to "let me explain," but that only angered Pittman further.

"You're angry with me because you're high?" the judge said, adding that she had already spoken to Cadle's attorney about the matter. She then ordered Cadle not to explain or say anything else that could incriminate her, revoked her bond and ordered deputies to take Cadle to jail.

Cadle was indicted Jan. 28 on one count each of illegal manufacture of drugs, a first-degree felony, and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, endangering children, a third-degree felony, and violating a protection order, a first-degree misdemeanor. She allegedly made methamphetamine in the presence of her child at her former residence in the 2600 block of S.R. 59 in Ravenna Township on Dec. 19, 2012.

Cadle also allegedly violated a court order by being in the presence of Logan W. Lindsay, 23, who had a protection order on his behalf prohibiting Cadle from having any contact with him based on her Nov. 24, 2012, arrest for assaulting him at their residence.

Lindsay, 23, of 850 Silver Meadows Blvd., Kent, also was indicted Jan. 28 on one count each of illegal manufacture of drugs, a first-degree felony, and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, for allegedly making methamphetamine in the presence of Cadle's child. A specification to his charges will require Lindsay to forfeit $746 to the Portage County Drug Task Force if convicted.
